Every year, five to ten million household poisonings are reported of which many are fatal. The majority of the victims in these cases are children, who are especially vulnerable to the chemicals and toxins found in everyday household cleaners we use.
More children under the age of four die of accidental poisonings at home than are accidentally killed with guns at home according to one report.
Children are more vulnerable because of weight and neurological development causing the pollution of the body faster. Children also pick up the chemical and toxic exposure more often because they play on floors, and outdoors and are less likely to wash or pay attention to things that could have been potentially exposed to pesticides and other hazardous toxins.
As a mom of four I am extremely concerned about the exposure of certain chemicals and toxins around my children. I often reflect on the fact that we were told for YEARS that second hand smoke did not affect people. However ALL of the research now shown that to be completely false. Children suffering from the exposure of second hand smoke have been found to have everything from asthma to cancer!
I would trust myself to read more and reference opportunities to use safer healthier products in my home when it comes to cleaning products.
